Rule 5

If a singular noun ends in o, the plural is usually formed by adding es.

Examples:

Singular Plural Singular Plural Singular Plural
tomato tomatoes cargo cargoes
potato potatoes volcano volcanoes
hero heroes echo echoes


Common exceptions:

Some words ending in o form the plural buy adding s (eg: piano - pianos )

Other words are:

kimono soprano studio cello radio
avocado fiasco merino video photo


Either s or es can be used with these words:

dingo halo mosquito grotto buffalo
zero mango motto flamingo ghetto
